Chemistry For Your Life

The world is all chemistry… pretty much.

About

Jam (left) is not a chemist.

Melissa (right) is very much a legit chemist.

Have you ever wondered why onions make you cry? What Adderall does to your brain? How caffeine keeps you awake or how bleach removes color? Well Melissa (a chemist) does, and to answer these questions we started a podcast, called Chemistry For Your Life!

In each episode Melissa explains the chemistry behind one of life’s mysteries to Jam (who is definitely not a chemist). BUT! she explains it in a way that is easy to understand, and totally fascinating.

If you’re someone who loves learning new things, or who wonders about the way the world works, then check out Chemistry for your Life, available wherever you listen to podcasts!

About Melissa:

Melissa loves chemistry and is excited about pretty much every episode! She recently graduated with a Ph.D. in chemistry from University of North Texas, where she investigated student’s attitudes towards learning organic chemistry (hear all the deets in episode #135!). Prior to that she got a M.Sc. in chemistry synthesizing organic molecules to capture sunlight (we talk all about it in episode #21!) and a B.Sc. in chemistry from University of Texas at Dallas.

About Jam:

Jam loves podcasts, especially science podcasts. So when the opportunity came to help Melissa start a science podcast, he couldn’t resist butting his way in. He studied Radio, Television, and Film at the University of North Texas (thankfully, because he does all the editing and makes sure every episode has the best sound quality we can get!). He’s a nerd, a coffee snob, a film buff, and a dad.
